Story
Architecture shapes our cities, our environments, and our daily experiences. Yet, behind the design of these spaces, many voices remain unheard—particularly those of women. Sky-Frame is proud to present "Women in Architecture Part Two", an impactful documentary directed by Boris Noir that highlights the remarkable journeys, challenges, and triumphs of two visionary architects: Dorte Mandrup and Tosin Oshinowo.
In this episode, we travel from the Equator to beyond the Arctic Circle, exploring the worlds of Mandrup and Oshinowo—two architects who are redefining the potential of architecture to enrich communities. The film’s stunning cinematography captures the cultural, environmental, and social forces that shape their groundbreaking work. David Basulto, founder of ArchDaily—the world’s largest architecture platform—plays a pivotal role in conducting interviews and guiding the narrative. His insights deepen the conversation and emphasize the importance of elevating underrepresented architectural voices.
Sky-Frame’s “Women in Architecture” initiative aims to inspire the next generation of architects while promoting inclusivity and empathy within the industry. We believe success should be determined by talent and vision, not constrained by gender or background. This documentary challenges conventional notions of success, encouraging young professionals to follow their ambitions and enrich the field with diverse perspectives.
Dorte Mandrup, based in Copenhagen, is celebrated for her bold approach to architectural innovation, with designs that challenge norms and open new possibilities. Tosin Oshinowo, working from Lagos, is deeply committed to cultural respect, sustainable urbanism, and inclusivity in her designs. Together, their work exemplifies diversity's crucial role in creating spaces that truly serve society.
More than a celebration of two pioneering architects, “Women in Architecture” is a call to action. It underscores architecture's potential to drive social transformation and encourages young architects to imagine a future where creativity, inclusivity, and innovation are central to the discipline.
By watching this film, we invite you to discover the inspiring stories of Dorte Mandrup and Tosin Oshinowo. Their journeys remind us of architecture’s transformative power and the importance of embracing diverse voices to shape a more inclusive and impactful world for future generations.
